“ Jean Lurçat fut un artiste peintre dont les tapisseries, à partir des années quarante furent connues dans le monde entier pour leur « feu ». Son ami Claude Roy disait de lui qu’il était le meilleur pilote de tapis-volant du monde : « ...Rien de ce qui est arrivé à Lurçat et rien de ce qui est arrivé à son pays n’a été absent de son oeuvre. Elle dit magnifiquement les jours de l’Histoire et les jours sans histoire... ».”
